Jinitiator
Oracle JInitiator is a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) provided for running web-based Oracle Forms applications inside a web browser (client workstations). Depending on the browser, Jinitiator is called as either a browser plugin or an ActiveX control.
The main reason Oracle developed JInitiator was to support Oracle Forms due to bugs in earlier SUN JDK releases. Apparently Oracle is working closely with SUN to phase out JInitiator. Forms version 11 is expected to support JDK 1.6 natively without the need to have JInitiator installed.
The first two numbers of the Jinitiator version roughly follow the SUN Java numbering convention. For example, Jinitiator release 1.3.1.28 is based on JDK version 1.3.
